Don’t force to change things; it will come on their own – Prof. Jane Naana

We have to learn to make our own mistakes and we have to be courageous enough to admit to those mistakes and to learn from them and that is how we will improve. Let us not think that anything that comes from outside of ourselves is modern; it is a wrong definition of the word.
The 2020 and Running Mate of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has said the society should not be quick to embrace change because of the pressure in the society.
According to the former Minister for Education, modernity and change will come but should come on their own at the right time. Adding that when things change because there is an imposition, the result is abnormal.
Prof. Jane Opoku-Agyemang indicated that it is not anything that comes from outside is modernity but rather Ghanaiasn can improve, adopt and make what they have usable to the current situation.
Speaking at a durbar held at Aboadze Dominase over the weekend, the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang urged Ghanaian youth to be innovative and create something for their own and stop consuming people’s sources of knowledge.
“Let us stop being consumers of other people’s sources of knowledge. How about us? What are we creating, why is there a bridge? Society itself is very dynamic. Things will change but things will have to change on their own. It is not by force that things must change. When things change because there is an imposition, the result is abnormal.” The Educationist stated.
She said it is the hard time Ghanaians should admit their mistakes and learn from it which she believes will bring improvement in the society and the lives of the people.
“We have to learn to set our own agenda as a people. What you have, you can improve and adopt, and make it usable to your current situation; that is something you are making modern,” she stated.
Report says Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has been re-appointed as the running mate for the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama for the 2024 general elections.
