Focus on Mahama’s message, not Akufo-Addo’s reshuffle – Annoh Dompreh rebukes Minority

He said, “As for reshuffling of ministers, it is in the bosom of the President. So rather concentrate on the messaging of your flagbearer and mind your own business.”

The Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has challenged the Minority in Parliament to focus on helping their flagbearer, John Mahama, to win back the trust of Ghanaians, instead of criticizing President Akufo-Addo’s ministerial reshuffle.

He said John Mahama, elected as the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) many months ago, has failed to put out appealing messages to the Ghanaian electorate.

He made this remark when the Deputy Minority Whip, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, described the President’s reshuffle as dead on arrival.

Kofi Buah was commenting on the list of ministers submitted to Parliament by the President and read to the House by the Speaker, Alban Bagbin, on Wednesday, February 14.

Annoh-Dompreh argued that the reshuffle was the President’s prerogative, backed by the 1992 Constitution and that the Minority should mind their own business.

He said, “As for reshuffling of ministers, it is in the bosom of the President. So rather concentrate on the messaging of your flagbearer and mind your own business.”

Kofi Buah had earlier argued that Ghanaians had called on the President in the last seven years to change some of his non-performing ministers and that even some majority MPs had held a press conference to urge the President to act before the boat capsized.

The reshuffle he said, had come too late, and the new ministers would not have enough time to settle down and make any impact.
