NPP primaries: Napo commits Manhyia South’s support to Bawumia

Dr Prempeh emphasized that Dr Bawumia’s ability to unite all sections of Ghanaian society and various religious backgrounds is crucial in the party’s quest to secure a third consecutive term in what is known as “breaking the 8” in NPP parlance.

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Energy Minister and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, has assured Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the unwavering support from the delegates in the upcoming NPP presidential primaries.

According to him, Manhyia South is united behind the Veep’s flagbearer bid and will massively vote for him during the NPP’s special Electoral College elections and the National Delegates’ Congress.

During a meeting with NPP delegates of the constituency on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the Ash Town Apostolic Church, Dr Prempeh highlighted the Vice President’s exceptional qualities, experience, deep loyalty, and sacrifices for the party, which makes him the best candidate for the NPP in the 2024 elections.

Dr Prempeh emphasized that Dr Bawumia’s ability to unite all sections of Ghanaian society and various religious backgrounds is crucial in the party’s quest to secure a third consecutive term in what is known as “breaking the 8” in NPP parlance.

“The Vice President has served well as Vice President, defending the programmes and policies of our government and remains the only existential threat to the electoral fortunes of John Mahama and the NDC, of all the candidates vying for the flagbearership slot,” he said.

Furthermore, Dr Prempeh assured that considering his grandfather, the Otumfuo Asantehene, has publicly endorsed Dr Bawumia as his son, it signifies that Dr Bawumia is like a father to him, and he cannot support anyone else in the contest.

Vice President Bawumia is currently in the Ashanti region, the stronghold of the NPP, for the next 11 days. He will be engaging with delegates from the 47 constituencies, highlighting why they should choose him as the preferred candidate over the other nine aspirants in the party’s flagbearership race.
