Obuasi West MP clarifies why he rejected Akufo-Addo’s recent ministerial appointment

According to Hon. Kwaku Kwarteng, he intends to play a dedicated role in the crafting of the NPP’s messages and governance strategies going forward and going into the 2024 general elections.

The Member of Parliament for Obuasi West constituency, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman Kwarteng has explained why he declined an invitation to serve in the executive arm of government.

His statement follows President Akufo-Addo’s recent ministerial reshuffle under Articles 78, 79, and 256 of the 1992 Constitution.

In response to media reports that the former Deputy Minister of Finance declined an invitation to serve in the executive branch of the government, he stated that he believed he could better support the work of the government from Parliament.

According to Hon. Kwaku Kwarteng, he intends to play a dedicated role in the crafting of the NPP’s messages and governance strategies going forward and going into the 2024 general elections.

“I consider that I am better placed to do so as a non-ministerial Member of Parliament.” the Press statement noted

“I am eternally grateful to the President for his fatherly influence on my political career and will always stand ready to support his vision in whatever ways I can.” Obuasi West MP added

The recent ministerial reshuffle done by the President saw some notable ministers removed from their offices and others reassigned.
