2024 budget: Ofori-Atta to present policy document today

“We have mobilized a few things that we would like to share but I think we are also in the budget season and therefore it will not just be numbers that we are working on but true feelings in the field and therefore the need to look at these social interventions in a real way. We will certainly give this an expression immediately and also in the budget,”

Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is expected to present the 2024 Annual Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament today, Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

This presentation aims to outline the government’s strategies for revenue generation and policies to alleviate the current economic challenges faced by Ghanaians.

Ahead of the presentation, there’s mounting pressure on the Akufo-Addo-led government to curb spending and address the ailing economy.

The Finance Minister has acknowledged the challenges posed by the Akosombo Dam spillage and assured that long-term relief measures for the affected communities will be considered in today’s policy document.

He mentioned that the government had already provided some relief items and expressed a commitment to further addressing the situation in the 2024 budget.

“We have mobilized a few things that we would like to share but I think we are also in the budget season and therefore it will not just be numbers that we are working on but true feelings in the field and therefore the need to look at these social interventions in a real way. We will certainly give this an expression immediately and also in the budget,” said Ofori-Atta during a press briefing after touring the impacted areas.
