Another hurdle looms in Parliament over Serwaa Broni– Inusah Fuseini
“You need one-third of the MPs and the Majority might not support the move and the Minority does not make up the one-third”,
Former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central Constituency in the Northern Region has predicted another hurdle in Parliament if the petition against President Akufo-Addo over his alleged affairs with one Evelyn Aidoo, popularly known as Serwaa Broni’s, is brought to the floor.
Alhaji Inusa Fuseini said Parliament would need two-thirds of the House to begin the supposed impeachment processes but the Majority will not support.
Three Ghanaians, Issifu Seidu Kudus Gbeadese, Elikem Kotoko and Stephen Kwabena Attuh have petitioned Parliament to commence impeachment proceedings against President Akufo-Addo over the allegations of Serwaa Broni.
According to the trio, who took their inspirations from Article 41 (a), (b) and (f) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, to uphold and defend the Constitution, explained that, the allegations, if proven to be true, would amount to “human rights abuse, abuse of office, exposing the security of Ghana to external threat…” as well as “…dragging the name of the high office of President into disrepute”.
Sharing his thoughts on the issue on 3FM’s Sunrise on Friday hosted by Alfred Ocansey, Alhaji Fuseini, who is also a private legal practitioner, explained that “it will cause a big hurdle again in Parliament”.
“You need one-third of the MPs and the Majority might not support the move and the Minority does not make up the one-third”, he explained.
He explained that “as a President, you cannot use your office to terrorize the citizens”
“And if it is established that there was an armed robbery on Serwaa Broni to retrieve information from her, and that was allegedly orchestrated by the Office of the President, then it means there is danger”.
