According to him, the issue of self-medication among the youth was not only destroying lives but leading to the untimely death of many.

Dr Bonsu blamed people who patronize medications based on suggestions from friends and family members.

He said there are side effects of many drugs people take when they are not well but because they are not aware of these consequences it tends to have dangerous effects on them.

He added that Incorrect self-diagnosis may worsen the health condition of patients instead of providing relief.

Dr Bonsu gave the advice when he joined the Accra branch of profecy scientific medical team that was providing a health screening and counselling exercise to the residents and traders of Amasaman market in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region today.
