E/R: Accident at Aburi junction kills four, nine injured; driver’s mate in custody

The truck which moving towards Accra from Nsawam failed its brake running into at least eight other vehicles.

Four female adults were killed in a road accident at Aburi junction on the Accra-Nsawam highway injuring at least nine people, the police said on Monday.

The accident involved a cargo truck and eight other vehicles including a taxi, police at Nsawam confirmed to Accra-based Asaase Radio.

According to a Municipal Commander with the Nsawam Police, Superintendent Miriam Osei Adu, the truck which moving towards Accra from Nsawam failed its brake running into at least eight other vehicles.

“The car had brake failure so they saw the car coming toward the taxi station where it crushed about eight car where four females were confirmed dead. All the emergency services were deployed to the scene and we are about clearing the road to open for traffic”, the police chief said as she confirms the truck driver’s mate is in custody assisting police investigations.
