Federation of ECOWAS Business Women Entrepreneurs to be launched in Ghana
“We must join forces and promote our businesses. We congratulate those who initiated this AfCFTA but women must not be left behind,” she stated.
Plans are far advanced for the official launching of the Ghana chapter of the Federation of ECOWAS Business Women Entrepreneurs (FEBWE-Gh) in Accra; an association of female business leaders and managers in the West African sub-region joining forces to motivate and support each other to grow.
FEBWE is a non-governmental, non-profitmaking and non-political organization with the objectives of empowering women and entrepreneurs and to ensure that women groups are really part of key business decision making in Ghana and other member countries across West Africa.
Consulting Chancellor at the Laweh Open University, Professor Goski Alabi, gave the hint of the intended launch during a networking meeting organized for members of She Achievers (SA) in Accra. She Achievers is an association of top female Chief Executives and past winners of the Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards who have come together to support each other.
Prof Goski Alabi has thus encouraged members of the association not to hesitate to join the sub-regional association as it has the potential of offering them a bigger platform, bigger audience and bigger market space am dong others.
She noted that that though the Ghanaian woman is naturally hardworking, a little push always make them achieve more, hence it is important that they come together and empower each other to succeed.
According to her, several opportunities abound including those presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), however, women would be shortchanged if they do not get actively involved by coming together to strategize on how to take advantage as women entrepreneurs on the continent.

Members of She Achievers used the occasion to share their positive experiences in starting and doing business in Ghana and the challenges that comes with it as well as how they individually managed to surmount those challenges.
Most of them advocated for support systems for women and the need for entrepreneurship to be taught in the various stages of the academic ladder and for a common platform for regular interaction so they could mentor upcoming business leaders.
The Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards is for distinguished female entrepreneurs whose invaluable contributions to national development has been loud and in supporting the pillars of Ghana’s economy.
The scheme has honored people in categories such as Outstanding Female in Public Relations and External Affairs, Outstanding Female in Tertiary Education, Outstanding Female in Media Production and Management, Outstanding Female Ambassador in Protocol Services and Outstanding Female in Corporate Social Responsibility, among others.
Since it started a few years ago The SHE Achievers has evolved to include mentoring, skills development, field trips and educational awareness and mentorship to young female business entrepreneurs.
At the meeting, the members were unanimous in their comments that it is possible to succeed in business in Ghana; however education has a critical role to play in it.
The Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards is organized annually by The Business Executive Magazine which also hosts the She Achievers.
