IMF reiterates commitment to new Finance Minister-designate

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has assured the designated Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin, of its commitment to assisting him in running his office effectively.

The Managing Director of the monetary fund, Kristalina Georgieva, in a congratulatory message, urged Dr Adam to spearhead efforts to restore stability to Ghana’s economy.

“Your leadership will be essential in sustaining Ghana’s reform effort and in further extending the current momentum of compelling program performance and gradual economic stabilization. I would like to assure you of the International Monetary Fund’s continued commitment to support you in these endeavours,” the note read in part”, Kristalina stated.

On February 14, 2024, President Akufo-Addo in a press release announced the changes in his ministers where Dr. Mohammed Amin was appointed to take Ken Ofori-Atta’s position as the Finance Minister.
