Sunday’s power outage in Accra, Takoradi due to fault – GRIDCo

GRIDCo has reassured the public of its commitment to resolving the issue promptly and ensuring uninterrupted power provision in the affected areas.

The Ghana Grid Company Ltd (GRIDCo) said on Monday that a power supply interruption affecting parts of Accra, Winneba, and Takoradi on Sunday (March 3) was caused by a fault on equipment at the Mallam substation around 20:38h.

The blackout affected most parts of western side of Accra as well as Winneba and Takoradi.

GRIDCo’s engineers swiftly responded to the situation by isolating the faulty equipment for further investigation, an official statement said.

Restoration efforts commenced immediately, with power supply to most affected customers being reinstated by 22:30h, the statement noted, adding that for areas still without power, engineers are diligently working to restore supply as soon as the faulted equipment is repaired.

Dzifa Bampoh, manager of the Corporate Communications Section at GRIDCo, conveyed the company’s sincere apologies to all those inconvenienced by the interruption in power supply.
