Wassa Amenfi East MP to build bridge over Ankobra river for resident access

Additionally, the lawmaker has advocated for various social amenities, including summoning the minister for roads and highways to Parliament to address concerns about the lack of good roads in the constituency.

The residents of Wassa Ajumako-Boikrom and nearby areas are gripped by fear as they resort to swimming across River Ankobra to reach Heman-Mpatase and other neighbouring communities due to the absence of a bridge.

Despite repeated promises from successive Members of Parliament in Wassa Amenfi East, no proper footbridge has been constructed, leaving the makeshift wooden slabs perilously unsafe for crossing the river.

In response to the urgent situation, Hon. Nicholas Amankwah, the Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi East, along with Mr. Samuel Arthur, the Assembly member for Ajumako-Boikrom electoral area, and local chiefs visited the river bank to assess the predicament and explore potential solutions.

In the interim, Hon. Nicholas Amankwah has pledged to enlist experts and contractors to build a bridge over the Ankobra River while awaiting government funding for a permanent metal bridge.

Additionally, the lawmaker has advocated for various social amenities, including summoning the minister for roads and highways to Parliament to address concerns about the lack of good roads in the constituency.

Meanwhile, community elder Nana Adu from Wassa Henman emphasized the importance of constructing the bridge not only for enhancing local businesses but also for improving transportation infrastructure.

In a related effort to enhance community safety and infrastructure, Hon. Nicholas Amankwah has donated 20 LED street lights to Wassa Mampong, part of his broader initiative to illuminate dark areas within the municipality and deter criminal activities.

The assembly member for Ajumako expressed gratitude for the donation, noting its potential to enhance community safety and wellbeing, aligning with their vision for a brighter and safer community.
